As we move further with integrating Social Media into our everyday practice; Are we being proactive with our students in regard to their Digital Citizenship? Student are now on twitter and blogging in many classes. Besides teaching students the tool it is our responsibility to teach them to be respectful, responsible, positive, and safe. This is everyones responsibility as students have computers in everyones classroom. I recently changed half a dozen students passwords because they had been compromised. How often do you remind students to keep their passwords private? How often do we talk to them about the difference between public and private and that what gets published publicly can come back to bite them. I know we spent time at the beginning of the year talking about digital citizenship but it is an everyday sustained conversation that we need to have with students.
