Checking for Understanding

What I like about this video is that the teacher makes instructional decisions based on student understanding. It also shows strategies for students to make sense and reason with mathematics. Students have opportunities to defend their answers with peers and learn from one another as well as the teacher. Try giving students a problem that takes students where you want them to be at the end of class at the beginning of class and explore how they get their as your lesson.
