We are closing in on finishing the month of August. This month started much earlier than those of the past but we are now settled in and we are learning and leading together. Procedures and routines have been established, students are now used to the routines and new learning is happening each day. Much can be celebrated about the learning that we have seen thus far this school year. First, through visiting classrooms it is apparent that our own adult learning is having an impact on student learning daily. Lessons are being scaffolded throughout the school. I have seen an emphasis on Cornell note taking, think pair share, cycling back to previous learning, students learning from teachers, students, text, and other resources. I believe that we have had 3 productive late start Mondays thus far that have all been geared towards our Theory of Action. We are getting better at getting better specifically rather than generally. We are learning from each other as we visit each others classrooms, collaborate and share strategies and practices, and reflect on our learning both individually and collectively. I encourage each of you to reflect on this first month of school and think about the positives that have happened in your classrooms and in your departments. We have seen 6 new teachers join our team and I am proud of the way our family have welcomed and helped each of them. I appreciate the commitment that each of you have made to improving your practice. This commitment is what will make us great.
Here are some highlights from the week.
Evidence of Scaffolding Vocabulary- This word wall can be found in Mrs. Caine and Mrs. Brazil's 8th grade Humanities classroom. What a great way to keep cycling back to new learning throughout a unit.
On Wednesday our Mass Media students hosted the first Mass Media night to introduce the public to the great work that they are doing with the video announcements, Storm Radio, website, photography, and social media. More than 75 students attended and participated in the event.
Our Innovation Academy students have been busy exploring the history of Plymouth as part of their first Humanities projects. In 7th grade their driving question is How have we been impacted by the legacies of history or others? Students have visited the Marshall County Museum to explore the history of those whose legacies have impacted Plymouth. The 8th grade classes are answering the driving question of What factors influence people to leave their hometown? They have also been busy interacting with community members to answer this question.
Several 8th grade students are vying for Student Council offices. These students will represent the student body and will be engaged in various service opportunities throughout the year with the first being the Fall Festival in October. They have created some outstanding videos to promote themselves for positions.
Our LJH Reads program is off and running continuing to build a culture of readers throughout Lincoln. Students are immersed in books each Tuesday and Thursday. Mrs. Day has been promoting the new books available in the media center via the televisons in the cafeteria each day at lunch. Mrs. Record has even started a book club for students. Encourage your Max Time students to check out the new books and to continue to read each Tuesday and Thursday.

Progress Reports go home on Thursday Sept. 3rd. Please have your grades updated in Powerschool by Thursday morning. Reports will be printed during the day Thursday and distributed via 7th period classes.
Discussion Meeting Monday 3:15- We will be discussing both virtual days and intersession.
PD on Sept. 4th- We will meet in the Red room of New Tech at 8:00 on Friday the 4th. Teachers will rotate through 5 sessions during the morning. The sessions are:
