PBIS from September 4th

As I have had time to reflect from our Professional Development Day on Sept. 4th,  I am truly excited to be working along side with all of you daily here at Lincoln Junior High. The conversation was stimulating and I am proud of all the ideas that were produced. Below are the highlighted bullet points from all the groups I met with on Friday. Please take time to read through the list and select one or two from the list that you can begin to use in your classrooms. Once again, so proud that all of you are working so hard to make our students and each other better daily here at Lincoln. 

PBIS IDEAS

• Incorporate character awards with spirit assemblies.
• Positive notes/emails to students and parents.
• Conference call with student to parent regarding, ex. student of the month, and receive a small prize. Ex. food at local restaurant)
• Fun Friday for all students when class work completed and the rest have work time.
• Examples of when to give Storm Watch Tickets: Student helps another student, student picks up trash, books, etc., helping someone with locker, working harder than expected, encouraging others, sticking up for other classmates, honesty ownership for actions, student to student tech showing, students giving up their lunch time to help others, extra help cleaning up classroom or area, for doing the right thing, staying on task-Do Now, Volunteering, coming to class with materials, being on time, working well with others.
• Be intentional-”Just Do It” - Recognize the good things as often as possible.
• Student Choice Incentive- weekly, biweekly, etc.
• MVP and MIP of the Day, Table of the Day.
• Friday free day-choice.
• Random “callouts” of praise.
• Move “ups”
• Homework Rewards
• Feature students on announcements
• Announcements- Highlight the Extra-Curricular clubs, Student of the Month, etc. in parent letters.
• Show and tell
• HW passes and Tardy Passes.
• 10 min. of free time.
• Earn classroom awards.
• Verbal recognition

• High five/fist bump
• Hall of Fame(per subject)
• Announcement shout out for teachers
• Pizza Party and video
