So the first 2 days are almost behind us and the weekend is in site.  As we look to our 3rd and final day of Max Time and the end of the week please remember the following:  

•  Remind students Max Time will only be on Mondays. 
• Use the last day of Max to connect with students (maybe even set some goals with them and create a plan together to check on their progress) 
• Be explicit in teaching the procedures,  I know it seems tedious and painful for students but it will pay in the end, we will either reap the rewards for our intentionality and explicitness or we will pay for our rush to content without establishing a foundation.  This is for both Max Time and all of your classes. We must make a commitment to teaching all students the behavioral rules of the school and embrace the idea that intervention is the best prevention.  
• It will be important to cycle back to these procedures so that they become routines and when students have issues we will have to explicitly re-teach students how to behave. 
• I like that when the bell rings to end classes that students are not yet in the hallway because the bell does not dismiss teachers do.  It is apparent that everyone is being intentional with this procedure. 
• Continue to help 7th grade students get adjusted.  Lockers really are not that hard. 
• Thursday will mark our first day for common prep department meetings.  We will meet in the following rooms:  

                    1st period- Humanities work room 

                    2nd- 215 & 207

                    3rd- 208

                    5th- IA Red 

                    6th- IA Green

                        Humanities work room.  

             

              Teachers should come prepared to do the following: 

          

•  Figure out where you are going- Identify what we want students to know and be able to do between now and the end of next week August 12th.  
• Determine what data we will have to discuss on the 15th 
• Explore/understand the curriculum maps
• Figure out a plan for the kids that we know will need extra time and support.  

I appreciate the commitment and hard work to get our first few days off to a good start.  Keep your noses to the grindstone and we will ensure our success collectively.
