Upcoming @ Lincoln

What a nice morning fog we had that made our short week a little shorter.  Here is a quick look at some upcoming items:

Today-  Because of the delay please watch the morning announcements during 4th hour today rather than during the shortened 1st period.

Monday PD-  We will meet Monday at 7:45 and it is a Department Collaboration day.  Teachers are asked to bring evidence of students learning around a recent learning objective.  Teachers should be prepared to bring student work and share with others the learning of low, medium, and high work.

Leadership Meeting-  Next Wednesday we have a leadership team meeting at 7:00 in Amie Guy's room.

eLearning-  The delay today served as a good reminder for the potential of upcoming elearning days.  We will use the same document for posting our assignments as we did last year.  Please be prepared to post assignments to the eLearning Hub document on the mornings of school closings.

Mid-Terms- As our mid-terms go home today I encourage teachers to continue to make those all important phone calls home for students that are struggling.  I have already seen several teams arrange meetings with parents in order to help students.  What a great practice!  It should be no surprise to parents when students bring home subpar mid terms if we are doing a good job of communicating to the parents of our struggling students.

School Improvement Plan-  Susan LaFree, Riley Heeren, Julie Stauffer, and a parent representative have been hard at work in preparing our school improvement plan for the 2016-2017 school year.  The group is going through an extensive process that will lead to interventions for our school to implement to improve in identified areas of weakness.  The plan will be submitted on October 1st and we will be sharing our next steps for improvements soon.

In October we will have two separate convocations so please plan accordingly.  Here is a brief preview of each.

October 6th-  Think Global Hear it Local- A musical group from China's Inner Mongolia with be here to perform for our students.  This cultural experience is provided by Encore Performing Arts and will be much like last years experience that our 7th graders had with the group from Israel.  The performance will be in the auditorium, 7th grade at 1:00 and 8th grade at 2:00.

October 26th Kevin Hines Suicide prevention presentation-  This will be a whole        school convocation at 10:00 to 11:15 in the gym.

More information will follow for both of these days.
