Last Monday during PD we spent time sharing what our first 8 days looked like regarding getting to know our students. We also shared what we can continue to do to build relationships with our students and to get to know them even more throughout the school year. As we take these next steps and put them into action please understand that it will be time well spent. Your students will behave better, they will work harder, and care more about there success in your classrooms. Monthly Check Ins - I was nice to spend some time with our core teachers this week and learn how things are going in classrooms thus far. We will continue to do this throughout each month of the school year.
Goal meetings- It is important for all of us to have goals for the school year and to share those goals. Both Craig and I have met with many of you to learn what your goals are related to increasing student achievement, increasing positive student behavior, and measuring our impact with students. If you have not yet met with either of us we will reach out to you to schedule a time to meet. Goals should be uploaded to SFS by Friday August 31st. Kudos to our staff- What a great staff we have. This has been evident in many ways thus far this year. I have heard and seen many teachers helping their colleagues by covering classrooms, offering support in difficult situations, and reaching out to our new teachers to make them feel welcome and supported. This truly is what makes Lincoln a great place. Keep up this outstanding Culture.
Classroom observations- As I continue to visit classrooms it has been great to see students engaged in their work and focused on the lessons. It has been nice to see student not on their phones or walking in the halls with their ear phones on. This has had an impact in the classrooms thus far and I believe it will have a lasting impact throughout the year. Thanks for being persistent in our efforts to improve student behavior in all classes. Continue to let us know how we can support you in this effort.
Student Council- Wow, we had over 90 students sign up for student council. This definitely shows that students are interested and engaged in making Lincoln the best. Lots of positive energy from our students! By the way we also had a really good number of students show interest in our Speech team as well. Reminder we are still looking for someone to coach our Spell Bowl team. Please see me if you are interested.
Spikeball- This week our physical education and wellness classes learned a new game, Spikeball. It was awesome to see all the students engaged and active in learning this new fun game.
Next Week @ Lincoln
Staff Cookout- Our PTO will be cooking out for all staff next Thursday to celebrate the start of the year. They will be serving hamburgers, brats, sides, and dessert. No need to pack your lunch next Thursday.
Monday PD- This upcoming Monday we will introduce our Behavior RTI plan for the year and Ellen Gaines will be providing teachers with binders for our special education students.
Blueberry Parking- As you go to the festival over labor day weekend remember to support our PTO and 8th grade students by parking in the Amphitheater parking lot. Proceeds are helping offset the cost for students to attend Washington DC in the spring and other areas of the school.
