Every Class Period Every Day

As we close our 1st quarter of the year this Friday Oct. 12th it is always good to reflect on where we are and where we are going. Friday will be day 47 on our journey to day 180. Where are your students on day 47? Which students are where you want them to be? Which students must we responded to in different ways to get them going in the right direction? What do you know about these students as learners as kids? What are some next steps for these students? Remember those marbles, we will now have 133 of them left after break. Here is the spreadsheet that we used to record what we know about students at the beginning of the year. Can you add to to this now that we are 47 days into the school year? Are we using this for our Behavior RTI meetings?  Who might be a Champion for each student?

Lincoln News

Check out this video of Fernando Pacheco ZelayaFernando was part of our Focus on Learning at the Oct. School Board meeting. What is good about this video?  He was involved in setting leanring goals thus he knew the objectives of the class, he knew what success looked like and what it was (The Can Do WIDA indicators), he reflected on the learning process what helped him along the way (Graphic Organizer), and he knew whether he was successful or not.  There is so much we all can learn from this video and the presentation by the four students at the board meeting was fantastic.  Students are motivated in three distinct ways,  1. Fun 2. Social and 3. a feeling of success.  I am guessing that Fernando found all three over the course of his project.

Chinese Sister School Visits Lincoln-  What a neat experience for our school and for those NJHS students and Chinese students that toured our visitors.  Although it was a quick visit it was still an opportunity to meet students and people from across the world.  We often live in a bubble and maybe fail to think globally and this was an opportunity to think beyond Plymouth.

Fundraiser Update-  We can pay the bill and are hoping for a big Monday to make some money.  If you know students that still have chocolate/money out please help us by reminding them to return either.  Our Tailgate party will be Friday.  We will send out students that qualified to attend later in the week.
