The Close of 2018

As we close out 2018 here at Lincoln we do so with a busy week.  It is always good to reflect on the year before moving into a new year when we return from Christmas break.  How have you been successful thus far this year?  How do you know you have been successful?  What are you using to measure your success?  These are great question to to answer and reflect upon.  (see December Survey below)
We started this school year with the challenge of getting to know our students, every student every period, how is that going?  Do you know your students as both learners and as a person?  We have 1 semester left to impact students lives and be that person who makes a difference in the lives of our students.  You have made a difference already how will you continue to make a difference in 2019?  How will you start off the new year when we return?  Every day counts and we have approximately 90 days left.  Remember our students all need a champion.  Be the difference!

Great work is recognizing the great things that each of these teachers do here at Lincoln to help us be the best we can be.  

Doors-  Wow!  The decorated doors were quite impressive and sure helped give our hallways a festive feel over the last week or so.  Great job to all who participated.


Spirit Week-  It was awesome to see the increase in participation during the dress up days from both students and staff.  The Christmas Spirit is evident.

NWEA- A shout out to the vast amount of students that improved their NWEA scores. Great work teachers is motivating students to do their best and in helping our students continue to grow.  Remember the purpose of NWEA is to find out where are students are as learners so that we can be responsive to their learning needs.

Innovation Academy- Through their weekly collaboration the 7th and 8th grade Innovation Academy facilitators have designed a project to teach and reward students for showing evidence of employability skills.  This project will kick off second semester and we look forward to learning more about the project and its success throughout the semester.

Upcoming:

Monday PD- We will meet for our holiday breakfast this coming Monday at 7:45 in the red room.

• January 7th - Staff will meet from 8:00-9:00 in the red room.  The rest of the day is yours to finish grades for the 2nd quarter and to prepare for the week.  Lunch will be on your own.  Grades are due Tuesday Jan. 8th at 8:00 a.m. Report cards will be distributed on Jan. 11th.  

Pineapple Days- Remember to declare a Pineapple day and show other hospitality by inviting them into your room to see the what is going on in your room.  Declare a pineapple day to showcase new technology, neat ideas, cross curricular strategies, depths of knowledge 3 or 4 activities, classroom management strategies, or anything else you are trying.

Riley Mini Dance Marathon-  

We are looking to raise the most money ever during this years mini dance marathon.  Please help our efforts by promoting the event and encouraging students to participate.  Teachers can participate as well by wearing jeans the week back from break for 5 dollars.  Here are the details for students to sign up next week.  

• The cost for each student is $20. We will start the registration process December 17-21. 7th grade students will go to Miss Hollabaugh's room to register & 8th grade students will go to Mrs. Barron's room to register during Advisory Periods next week.  Teachers, you can help by paying $5 to wear jeans the first week after Break Jan 8-11 OR by helping to sponsor a deserving student who cannot afford it, but wants to participate OR just by talking up the event the next 2 weeks and getting kids excited.
