Amazing Accolades:

Audria DeLucenay:  Thanks go to Audria for her planning of College Go Week.  Great job!  Students really enjoyed decorating their advisory doors and were able to learn about post high school options during the weeks activities.

Matt Harter- During a lesson in his 3-4 blocked math class I witnessed students engaging in each of our Math department focus areas of higher order thinking questions, problem solving (CUBES), and increasing student discourse.  Well done, Matt.

Lauren Brown and Leah Trost for collaborating with Ryan Ahlrich to create alternative assessments for their leveled ELL students.  We continue to see this level of differentiating in more classes more often.  Great work!

Fundraiser Update:  Our fundraiser is going well thus far.  Students will continue to report to advisory first thing each morning through Oct. 7th.  Please continue to encourage students to make this an amazing fundraiser.  Remember the tailgate party is scheduled for the afternoon of the 11th.

Lincoln shirt day- On Oct 11th we will end the 9 weeks with a One Team One Family One Last Time shirt day.  We will also have an all school picture taken outside of door 1 at 9:00 a.m. Lifetouch will be here to take this picture and others commemorating different locations through out the school.  I will be assigning houses to different locations throughout the school to shoot these pictures on the morning of the 11th.

End of Nine Weeks-  The end of the 9 weeks is quickly approaching (Oct. 11th).  Grades are due Monday Oct. 21st.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Tuesday October 22, 2019

3:30-5:00 and 5:45- 8:00

Format:  Parent/Teacher conferences will be held as an open format on Tuesday October 22, from 3:30-5:00 and 5:45-8:00. A student-led approach will be utilized. Core Teachers will meet in the following locations:

7th Grade Traditional: Cafeteria

7th Grade PBL: Red Room

8th Grade Traditional: Room 101

8th Grade PBL: Green Room

Elective teachers should meet parents in their rooms.

Directions for Teachers:

• Parents will meet with first available teacher to monitor student conversation with parent and provide input as needed
• Teachers will be better able to see more parents if the goal is to meet individually with parents instead of as a group.  However, when the need arises to have support, teachers have their team teachers available to ask for assistance.
• It is best practice to personally invite parents that you need to meet with.  This will help build collaborative relationships with parents and help students be successful.  Phone calls are always best.

Student Preparation:

All students should prepare a Keynote presentation to take their parents through during the conference. Presentations should include a slide or slides from each of their classes.

Ideas of what a class slide can include:

• Student grades
• NWEA Scores (Math and LA)
• ILEARN Scores (Math and LA)
• Summary of 1st quarter (Narrative)
• Goals for the school year for class
• Example of student work
• Attendance,Tardies (Advisory Slide)

Teachers should share ideas for their slide with others.  Students will then present their Keynote presentations to their parents during the conferences.  Because fall break falls right before conferences be sure to allow some time to complete this task during the last week of the quarter.
