Do You Know Your Impact?
via GIPHY
When we are intentional with our instruction and with the small but important practices and mindsets within our lessons then the impact that we have on our students can be Amazing. Knowing thy impact allows us to adjust and make the necessary changes or instructional decisions to ensure that our students are learning at high levels. How do we know our impact? First we must have the mindset of making our impact visible to us and our students and being intentional about doing so. It is not enough to just want to teach a good lesson. What determines if a lesson is good? For us to be Amazing our lessons are good if they have the impact that we want them to have and that the impact is visible to both teachers and students. Which brings us to one of those little things that we must be intentional about in both our planning and practice, Formative Evaluation, otherwise know as checks for understanding. These are how we determine the impact we are having on our students and their learning. How are you measuring your impact? How are you planning to measure your impact during your lessons? Is this impact visible to you and to your students? What do you do if students cannot show you your impact?
