One Team One Family

One Team One Family

This is how we started the year and now our year has pretty much ended.  Yes we will continue with eLearning and our weekly meetings and working from home but this is not how I wanted to end our last year in our current building.  I am sure many of you feel the same way.  So we will have to make the best of this unprecedented situation that we are in.  Who would have thought that March 12th would have been our last day together as a school in the building?  Crazy, and sad.  I miss you and the students and I will miss the building.  What a neat school we were able to work in over the years.  Although, I am super excited for what the new building will bring us, I will always have the fondest of memories of this building, except for the smell at times. As we close out this year online remember We Are Lincoln!  One Team One Family one last time.

There are a lot of questions to be thought through during the next couple of weeks.  Here are some Friday tidbits.

Accolades @ Lincoln:

Team Lincoln:  Awesome job with your eLearning assignments and connecting with students.  Your use of technology has been outstanding and your commitment to our students is unmatched.  Thanks.

Sandy Cartwright:  Sandy continues to work at school most days by herself.  Thanks for all you do for so many.  She has been working to complete payroll and going through the archives in preparation for the move.  Sandy, be sure to stay home as well. Stay safe.

Jake, Fabian, and Becky: for their work with running copies and sending learning packets to our students.  Thanks for doing this.

Audria DeLucenay:  Thanks for putting together the picture for our students.  This will be a great touch to show our students we are thinking about them.  We will need to continue to do things like this weekly as we close the year.  I am sure many of you have seen the neat things teachers across the country have done.  Let's plan on one per week.  More info on next weeks project to come.

Department Chairs and Leadership team:  Thanks for holding Google Meets with your departments this week.  We will continue to do this weekly.  Leadership team, thank you for meeting this week and providing feedback.

Support Staff:  Thanks to many of you that joined the Google Meet on Tuesday.  We would love to have you each week.

Riley Heeren:  Thanks for your coordination with our tour company for the DC trip.  We have cancelled the trip but Riley continues to think outside the box and provide leadership with the plans for future trips and options.  Thanks, Riley.

Paula Neidlinger:  Thanks for planning our weekly announcements and for the continued work with the yearbook even though we are not in school.  We are also planning our 8th grade video remotely.  Stay tuned for information regarding this.

Lincoln Custodians: Your work is appreciate as you keep Lincoln clean and disinfected during this time.

Upcoming @ Home

With the announcement of eLearning through the end of the year, we all know that the situation will be difficult and challenging.  Some students will consider themselves done and will be more reluctant to do anything.  Most likely these are the students that do not have the parent support they need.  In order for our students to stay engaged and learning to continue, the connections and the opportunities for them to meet up with their friends will be the biggest incentive to them during this time.  Therefore we will change the Google Meet Schedule starting April 13th due to some feedback that we received.  We want to alleviate too many Google Meets in one day for students but still provide students will the opportunities I stated above.  So here is our current plan:

Monday- Math and LA
Wednesday- Science and Social Studies
Fridays- Electives

If you have your schedule already set for next week do not fret.  We will start this the week of April 13th.  This is mandatory of all teachers and the Google Meets should be considered the assignment for the day.  Again, the hope will be that this motivates students to stay engaged with Lincoln and school.

I was able to join a class today and it was nice to see and hear students.  Both Jake and I will drop into these meets often.  Students were pretty quiet but I think that will change.

Staff Meeting: Tuesday April 7th 9:00.  All staff are welcome to attend.  We would like to start utilizing the chat more during this meeting so if you have questions, need clarification, or have something to say be sure to use the chat during our next meeting.  We also have this form to enter any questions you might have.

That is all for this Friday.  Have a safe weekend.
