Today I was able to witness Team Lincoln at its best. Today was the drive by parade for Jaisyn Reese. As I approached the WDA parking lot it was apparent that Team Lincoln was together and putting our students first. The amount of our staff that were there either to help line up the cars or to drive in the parade made me proud to be a part of our Team. A Team that puts students, the prize possession of all of the Lincoln parents, first. It was a special site to see so many in their One Team, One Family shirts out helping for Jaisyn. I am sure that it made Jaisyn feel pretty good to see all the support and encouragement he has as he continues his fight. Thanks Team Lincoln and thanks to Rachel Anders for your leadership with the parade. Thanks to Suze Garrity for being out there capturing the special day for Jaisyn and his family. Thanks to Jena, Betsy, Matt, Robert, Riley, Kevin, Jesus, Lisa, Bridgett, and Fabian. If I missed anyone please know it you are awesome too. This type of day just shows the impact that Team Lincoln can have for our community and the students in our community. TEAM LINCOLN YOU ARE THE BEST.

Student Lockers: We were able to distribute almost all of the students' belongings this past week. Thanks to Jake for organizing this distribution. It worked really well. Thanks to our aides that made it happen. (Wendy, Kim, Kathy, Kennedy, Ashley, Jesus, Fabian, Becky, Sue) Thanks to Audria for helping both days. Thanks to Sandy Cartwright for rapping up the left over bags on Thursday and Friday. Another great example of Team Lincoln in action.
Teachers Appreciation Week- This week is teacher appreciation week and I want to say that I appreciate all your commitment and pride that you have everyday. Teaching isn't always easy however your commitment to doing what is best for our students and preparing to help them be the best they can be is appreciated. Your pride at which you go about helping students and having impact is impressive and appreciated. This pride is evident in the little things that many times go unnoticed, preparing your lessons, elearning lessons, collaborating weekly, contacting parents, getting to know your students, putting in the extra time to help others on the team. I appreciate all you do to make Team Lincoln the best. So on this teacher appreciation week feel good about what you do and the positive impact that you have on the team.

8th Grade T-Shirts- 8th grade teachers be sure to remind your students to fill out the form for 8th grade shirts. I am hopeful that we will be able to have an in person celebration sometime over the summer where we can distribute the shirts to our class of 2024. Here is the form
8th Grade Video- We Are... I am asking our 8th grade students to send us pictures with signs that have a message of what We Are...such as We Are:
Family, Brothers, Strong, Smart, Friends, Amazing, Passionate, Going to miss this place, Lincoln...etc. The possibilities are endless. Students can share the pictures in jpeg. format with you or they can drop their photos into this FOLDER.. Maybe this can be their fun assignment for Tuesday. We need teachers help to make this happen. Please post the folder and directions on your assignments for this week, especially Tuesday. You can encourage students to take pictures with their friends as well.
Awards- Remember awards are due on Wednesday, May 6th this week. Here is the Awards form. Videos of you announcing your awards are do by May 15t in this folder. See Jake's email if you need instructions.
Introduction Videos- Please remember to add your introduction videos by May 4th. That is tomorrow. Again, see Jake's email for instructions. This is something that everyone needs to do. Videos should be short with you introducing yourself, what you teach, and one fact about you. They should be submitted in this folder.
eLearning- Hang in there everyone! We have 10 days left. We know that some students checked out when we closed for the year. Focus on the students that are still with you and continue to provide learning opportunities for them. We cannot control what all our students are doing during this time. Remember that we don't know what their homes are like, whether they have internet, whether their parents are being supportive, whether they have environments conducive to elearning. This is tough on many students and I am pretty sure they would rather just be at school. Hang in there and continue to provide engaging assignments that might motivate more students to do the work more often more of the time and don't fret if they don't. Remember less is more and check on students emotionally. Again, I appreciate your work during this time.
Building Progress- We are now all packed and ready to be moved. Thanks to everyone for getting this done. I am told that they will start moving stuff in the next week or so. The current building is pretty much off limits at this time. Construction crews will start tearing stuff apart in preparation for demo and remodeling. They will start some abatement work this week along with pulling ceiling tiles, removing materials that will be repurposed, and moving in stuff for the auction. Our fob access will be shut off this upcoming week. The new building is still coming along, a little slower than I might have thought but none the less it is coming along. I will continue keep you updated with the timeline for getting into the new building. I anticipate that we are at least 6-8 weeks away for teachers to access their classrooms. July 1st at the earliest.
Next Year- If you have been keeping up with the daily announcements from Governor Holcomb then you know that we probably won't know what the beginning of next year looks like until July. As an administrative team we are just beginning the conversation and brainstorming options. However we will not know until July. All schools remain closed through June 30th. Stay tuned.
