Taking Care of You

via GIPHY

As we continue our journey through 2020 it is of immense importance that we take care of ourselves.  The stress that comes with a new year and the many items that we have on our plates as well as the new normal of COVID protocols and worries make it vital that we make sure that we are ok socially and emotionally.  Balance is important.  Making sure that you have time for yourself and family without the stress of school is important.  It is my hope that everyone is finding this balance and getting away mentally from the stress and worries on weekends and evenings.  You have our permission to disengage during this time as it is necessary.  The other way that we can stay healthy is spending time with others.  This year at Lincoln has been odd in that we have yet to meet as a staff in person.  This has not allowed us to interact and connect as much as in the past so finding other ways to interact and talk with others is important.  Get out and mingle with others throughout your day when possible.  Find the time to relax and spend time with your family and friends.  It will serve you well and in turn it will serve Lincoln well.

Staff Party/Get Together Friday October 9th 6:00 p.m. @ Becky's House.  Come and relax with your Team Lincoln Family.

Accolades @ Lincoln:

College Go Week:  Great job staff!  As I walked around during the Kahoot students were having fun and connecting in the houses.  Yes, we can still have fun and thanks to Audria and Darlene for leading this fun.

Becky Walters:  Thanks Becky for hosting the upcoming staff get together.  It is much needed and I am sure it will be a great time.

Team Lincoln Volleyball Team-  Kudos to Cheryl, Becky, Betsy, Riley, and Jena for taking on our girls volleyball team last week.  I heard it was a lot of fun and a great way for our students to see another side of their teachers.

Fundraiser Kick-Off-  Wednesday September 30th during advisory class.  Chocolate distribution starts at 2:00.  Schedule for Wednesday is Spirit Assembly Friday Schedule.  This will give us from 1:45 to 3:00 to distribute the chocolate and allow for some end of day announcements if needed.  We also already have a bell schedule for this.  Please talk this up with students and provide students with daily friendly reminders to bring sell their chocolate.  Teachers will need to begin collecting money on Thursday morning and daily until October 12th.  We use the first 10 minutes these 8 school days to have students report to advisory and turn in, record, and collect chocolate.  The first big prize will be awarded on Monday Oct. 5th.  To be elegible for this prize students must sell one box.  The fall tailgate party will be Friday Oct. 16th.  We will have two parties this year.  7th grade will have their party in the morning and 8th grade in the afternoon.  We will provide more details as it approaches.  7th grade party will start at 8:30 and end at 10:51.  The 8th grade party will start at 12:30 and end at 2:30.  Students selling multiple boxes will get out of class at 8:30 and 12:30 respectively and those selling 1 box will get out at 9:30 and 1:30.  Again more information will be coming.

Zoom-  Last day for Google Meet is Wednesday.  If you have not started using Zoom now is the time.  Let us know if we can help you in this transition.

Check Ins-  We will schedule our next round of check-ins starting the week of Oct. 5th.  Be on the lookout for the invites.  Come with your goal for the year in mind.  We will attempt to get everyone in before break.

2nd Quarter-  Our first quarter of the year ends on October 9th.  We have quite a few students that will be returning for the start of the 2nd quarter on Monday Oct. 12th.  Here is the list of returning students and those that are remaining virtual.  This could possibly change some of our COVID procedures for lunch and other areas.  Jake and I are meeting this week to begin discussing the possible changes.  We will keep staff updated.  If you have questions let us know.
