Belief is huge. Our belief in students and their ability to be able to do more than they think is possible is of immense importance to our success as a school. When we believe in our students we will be more successful. Many of our students do not have anyone who believes in them. We may be the only ones that show a belief in them. We may be the only team that believes in them. Believe in kids, believe they can learn, believe they can behave, believe they care, believe they can do it, believe they can tackle challenging text, believe they can think at deep levels, believe they can write, believe they can collaborate, believe they can solve complex problems, believe they can be trustworthy, believe they can be responsible, believe they can be respectful, believe they can be positive. Believe they can be AMAZING. The alternative does not help and does not make us better. I believe and I believe in each of our teachers to show each of our students that we believe in them.

Jen Taylor- Kudos to getting kids engaged in Digital Apps and Responsibility. Check out this short video of students having fun and being engaged in manipulating robots. Students will be learning how to code these in upcoming lessons.
Steve Miller- Kudos to Steve Miller for also engaging students in creating stop motion videos. Check out this video of student work.
I give both Jen and Steve kudos because they are both teaching classes they have never taught before and are displaying Amazing growth mindsets as they develop the classes. They are both working hard to give our students great learning experiences. Great work and keep it up.
Kudos to Sarah Drang- Not only is she our leader with all things COVID this year but also she is an expert mouse catcher. We had a mouse in the house (office) on Friday and she came to the rescue while Fabian was running and hiding. She calmly caught the mouse and took it outside for release. Great work! I also give an assist to Bridget Hite as she did not pull her weapon but was instrumental in the assist while Sandy was standing on the front desk.
Kudos to Ryan Ahlrich for being selected to present his success with our ELL program at the upcoming IASP Fall professionals conference in Indy. We are proud of our success and am excited for principals from across the state to hear about it.
Kudos to Susan LaFree- Susan led a project for LJHS to take part in the Holiday Card Challenge where our students made cards to send to our beloved Military Heroes. Great work in connecting our students to an awesome project and teaching them to share with those that protect our great nation.
Accolades Megan Atkinson for her work with our LJH Speech Team. The kids are excited and proud to be apart of this team. They had their first competition this past week and I could tell their excitement and they also looked good all dressed up. These competitions are all virtual so if you want to check out the awesome work that our students are doing be sure to ask Megan when the next competition takes place.

Be sure to check this out. Compensation for PD: Through joint collaboration, PEA and PCSC has announced a plan for classroom teachers to be compensated up to 15 hours of professional development/planning time at a rate of $20/hour. The applicable date range is from June 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. The teacher must fill out the PCSC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FORM to receive the compensation. Knowing that most teachers have already surpassed the 15 hours of professional planning, it is suggested that you submit the form sooner rather than later. The form is rather simple and asks for general details as to the type of pd that was done.
