Closing out the Semester

via GIPHY

This is it, our last full week of the 1st semester.  2020 comes to a close and what a year it has been.  New school building and all the new procedure for a pandemic that we did not see coming as we started 2020.  We have been amazing in the adjustments we have had to make with both throughout the year.  With this last week continue to help students finish strong.  I know there have been students that have taken advantage of the virtual option and done nothing throughout the first semester.  We are going to reach out to these students again this week and we will have to make some tough decisions during the upcoming third quarter with regards to retention.  I am not a fan of retention however in this unusual time with the circumstances that have transpired we will be looking at these students and the possibility.  I appreciate the efforts that teachers have made to provide a successful virtual learning environment for students.  All of you have been amazing.

This week will bring challenges as the students that are here will be ramped up as they look to the holiday break.  We will continue to keep things as normal as possible with a bit of fun planned for the Spirit Assembly at the end of the week.  Hang in there a much desreved break in almost here.

Accolades @ Lincoln

Thanks to the houses that have planned the upcoming spirit assembly.  Although we did not get to have our November assembly we appreciate the planning that went into that as well.

Kudos to Jessica Runk and Lori Day for their assistance and recognition of the student emergency at the end of the day on Friday.  Thanks to Sarah Drang for her professional response and caring for the student.  Thanks to all teachers for your flexibility at the end of the day.  Although not everything was prefect we did learn from the incident and have made some adjustments with communication of the students medical condition.  Everyone responded to an emergency situation well.

Successes throughout the first semester:

  • Being here and managing both in person and virtual learners
  • Adjusting to a new building and patience with various things (technology and procedures)
  • Saving the Storm- although it might not seem so at times (approx 180 virtual and quarantined learners as of Friday) we have Saved the Storm and provided an Amazing learning opportunity for students throughout the semester.
  • Conference championship in Girls Cross Country
  • The implementation of new classes (STEM, Digital Applications and Responsibility, LA Labs)
  • Labs and adjusting to make them safe for our COVID protocols
  • Music concerts in the time of COVID
  • Athletics in the time of COVID
  • The World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser and tailgate party
  • Ongoing Lincoln PD and collaborations
