 Accolades @ Lincoln 

Betsy Barron- Kudos to Betsy for her leadership of our National Junior Honor Society and the recent 7th grade inductees that helped turn out cafeteria and lobby into an awesome dance environment for our 8th grade dance. Thanks for your hard work and for giving our 7th grade NJHS students a great service experience and our 8th graders a memorable dance.  

Suze Garrity- Thanks for continuing to capture our Lincoln memories in pictures.  You are amazing and can't wait for the 8th grade dance pictures to be published soon.  

Riley Heeren and Jake Singleton- Kudos to Riley for the creation of the dance playlist and to both Riley and Jake for deejaying their first dance.  Well done.  

Thanks also to all those that came to the dance to chaperone:  Lauren Brown, Ashley Oliver, Sean Hatfield, Kevin Garrity, Kelsie Hollabaugh, Leah Trost, Darlene Derifield, Jena Drebelbis, Bridgett Hite,  and Sandy Cartwright.  

Kudos to Carol Gilbert and all those that helped with the Red Storm Relays.  Another successful meet.  

Matt Harter, Angie Bronicki, and Maddie Wohlfert for their Amazing leadership of our Academic Teams that competed recently and performed really well. The teams competed against 24 other teams and finished 1st among the 24 teams.  Lincoln Finished 3rd in the state for interdisciplinary, in the top ten for math, and 4th place for Social Studies.  Great Job coaches. 

Audria DeLucenay- Kudos to continuing to work through ILEARN make-ups and organizing our PHS visits this past week.  

Overall we have great work going on here at Lincoln due to our Amazing teachers.  We are really seeing an increase our extra curricular accolades.  This could not be accomplished without the commitment to being student centered and to providing our students with Amazing opportunities.  Whether it is our new Esports teams, our academic teams, robotics, school musical, Bio-Anatomy club, JA Spark Day, Science Fair, NJHS, or our athletic teams our students are being successful because of dedicated adults.  Thank you!

May

 The month of May is here.  Unbelievable.  We have had a wild ride since last May.  The world has changed, the way school is done has changed, heck even our school building has changed.  What has not changed is how Amazing our teachers and staff are each and everyday.  In this year of uncertainly and change you have been nothing short of Amazing.  It has been hard but you have poured your heart into your work, you have been patient, flexible, relentless, and had that growth mindset needed to persevere and be all in.  Together and being positive, teachers and staff have faced this new world, new structure, and new building in impressive fashion.  

The pandemic has put a lot into perspective.  Students need to be here at school for lots of reasons but I feel the top reason is because they learn best from their teachers face to face.  Teachers can have the impact on students well beyond the content.  The impact of connecting with students, building relationships, showing them you care cannot be replicated online and this is what makes our staff Amazing.  Through a pandemic when things have been difficult you have not wavered you actually have stepped up in amazing ways to have this impact on students.  You have taken on the unknown and done Amazingly well.   As we close this last month of the school year like no other, let's finish with what has helped us get to this point: togetherness, positivity, being all in, and relentlessness.  This marks the last month together before we take a much needed summer break, let's end like we started. Amazing!  

We will celebrate Teacher Appreciation each day this week:  

Monday- Teacher appreciation gifts will be delivered. 

Tuesday- Hacienda chips and salsa available. 

Wednesday- donuts and breakfast pizza provided in teacher work rooms and lounge 

Thursday- Yeti drawings throughout the day. 

Friday- Lunch, pulled pork and sides.  

Accolades @ Lincoln: 

Entire Staff- Thank you for professionalism, flexibility and patience during ILEARN.  For only the second time we conducted the ILEARN testing. With the testing being untimed it provides us with some challenges as students finish at various times.  We appreciate your flexibility with the schedule and with students throughout the testing window.  Thank you for being prepared to test each morning and for encouraging students throughout the window. Well done and thank you. 

Shannon Verheaghe, Darlene Derifield, and Jodi Kallenberg- Kudos to all three for providing us with the ability to cover testing when someone needed to be out.  They were prepared to step in and complete tests in various locations.  Thank you.  

Kitchen Staff- Dawn, Heather, and Paula for serving breakfast to our students each morning.  This went really well.  The process worked and we thank them for coming in early to feed our students.  

All of our instructional aides- Thank you for your work during the two weeks whether it was in testing rooms or in the hallways to make sure students got to and from where they were going.  Thank you. 

Audria DeLucenay- Kudos for organizing and completing the testing.  Great work of managing the testing and make ups.  We still have students to make up some test this week.  You did Amazing.

 Accolades @ Lincoln 

Cheryl Caine and Science Department-  Great work with the Science fair this year.  We had three students who went on to the regional science fair and did quite well.  Great job organizing this in a year that was all virtual.  Our science department is Amazing.  

Kudos to our Custodians for their work with setting up and tearing down of the National Junior Honor Society program.  This is no easy task.  

I continue to grateful and amazed by our instructional aides.  Cherie Ramirez, Kim Bodmer, Jesus Jiminez, and Chloe Kulwiki for their flexibility and willingness to help cover classes when we are in a pinch, which often.  Thanks to Team Lincoln for your flexibility with sharing them.  I know not having them in classroom following their regular schedules can be difficult.  

Audria DeLucenay- Kudos to Audria for her organization of this years ILEARN testing.  We start this week and she has prepared us for the start.

ILEARN- Schedule-  Breakfast Change-  Breakfast for students will be served from the cafeteria and the regular food lines.  Student will grab and go to there testing rooms with their breakfast.  We have scheduled extra time at the beginning of each day to get organized and ready to test.  Other reminders: 

• Remember to mark absent students so that we get their tests made up 
• Be sure to read through the testing manual for the days test prior to each test
• We will be out and ready to help if needed during testing

Accolades @ Lincoln 

Lori Day-  Thanks Lori for opening up the media center for classes this past week.  It was great to see classes using the space during the day.  

Ashley Oliver-  Kudos to Ashley as she had a busy end of the week last week.  She has done great even with her broken foot and tricycle.  Great work Ashley and thanks for all you do.  

Congrats to Megan Weisenberg on the arrival of her second daughter, Quinn, last week. She is beautiful and we welcome her to the Lincoln family.  

Congrats to Brody Shively for his expert NCAA picks.  Impressive job winning the pool.  

Sean Hatfield-  Mr. Hatfield is in for Megan Weisenberg and did an awesome job in an emergency situation last week.  One of his students with a seizure history was not feeling well.  Sean walked with him to the water fountain and then followed the seizure plan that he made sure he knew perfectly.  Well done Sean.  

Jake Singleton-  Jake also responded to the student emergency to assist and call 911 all while he had a group of 6th graders touring the building.  Jake has also done an outstanding job of scheduling parent conferences to problem solve some student classroom behaviors.  Thanks for your outstanding work.  Last week was also assistant principals week and we celebrate our Amazing assistant principal.

ILEARN April 19th- We start with the practice test on the 19th.  Please prepare your advisory students this week.  Talk with them about the schedule and breakfast each morning.  Breakfast will be distributed in the hallway leading to the collaboration hub each morning.  Students will pick it up and should eat in testing rooms.  Please make sure students throw away their trash each day.  Also stress attendance during the testing window.  Testing rooms with perfect attendance throughout the window will receive ice cream treats.  Encourage students to bring books to read if finished with testing.  Encourage students to come prepared for testing by having iPads charged each day.  

Advisory Time- Continue with community circles once a week, student check ins weekly, PCC in 8th grade.  Students are to stay in classrooms during advisory, no collaboration hub privileges for Trust card holders at this time.  When we open this back up we need to make sure that those with trust cards understand their responsibilities that come with their freedom.  It would be benefical if houses would come up with a schedule of giving trust card holders opportunities to use the collaboration hub during advisory in order to limit the amount of students using the space at one time.  These spaces were designed for students however we must set the parameters for use.   Gym time during advisory should be limited and especially for students that might not be doing well academically.  This is where check ins with students can help us know which students are not doing well.  

SFS Artifacts- Are due April 19th.  Again, the recommended amount for domains 1 and 3 together are 8-12 artifacts.  Teachers do not have to upload artifacts for domain 2.  

SAFE TALK Training-  New Teachers and staff Tuesday April 13th 

Get Schooled Virtual Convocation- Wednesday April 14th 9:45-11:45-  Teachers will be receiving a link for the virtual convocation. We will go to advisory classrooms for the convocation and follow the below schedule for the day.  Note lunch periods will be 30 minutes rather than 40 on this day in order to maximize class time.  

        1st period - 7:55- 8:28

        2nd period - 8:32-9:00

       3rd period- 9:05-9:32 

       Advisory- 9:37- 12:20  ( Convocation 9:45-11:15) 

       Lunch - 11:20- 12:20 7th Grade 11:20-11:50. 8th Grade 11:50-12:20

The convocation might stir up students emotionally.  If they are in need of help or some one to talk with after the program be sure to send them to the office or assist them as needed.

Happy Easter

 Staff-  It is April and the weather seems to be headed in the right direction.  This is always an exciting time of the year.  Our students get excited for the end of the year and the warm weather which always bring more challenges.  The challenge to keep our students engaged and focused become pretty difficult from here until the end.  We do have the help of ILEARN to keep us focused but the challenges are immense.  Active supervision is also more important now than ever.  Be sure to be outside of your door each class period and interacting proactively with out students to help them make good choices.  Students should be limited regarding their passes to restrooms and other areas.  Please take some time to reemphasize the meaning of the trust cards and the responsibilities that those that hold trust cards have.  Remember with freedom comes responsibility.  We have had a pretty Amazing year and we need to stay together and positive until the end.  

Accolades @ Lincoln:  

Sue Gruitt-  Sue has been Amazing in her continuing work with our students each and everyday.  She pretty much runs the cafeteria daily and keeps a tab on our students as they are working in the collaboration hub and moving throughout the building .  Great work Sue we are appreciative.  

Ryan Ahlrich and Audria DeLucenay-  Both Ryan and Audria meet consistently with our ELL students to check on their social and emotional well being.  Recently they gave our students a voice by asking them this question: How could Lincoln be better for Hispanic students?  Here is how the students responded. 

I love when we ask for student feedback and give our students a voice.  This is how we grow and continue to improve.  Well done.  

Darlene Derifield -  Darlene has found ways to continue to give her students opportunities to be actively engaged in her lab settings and has done so really well.  Great job of engaging students while still socially distancing and masking up.  Actually Bob Garrity, Cheryl Caine, Lauren Brown, Maddie Wohlfort, and Jack Hildreth have done pretty much the same things in their science classes.  We were challenged to make learning fun for students during this year and they have done an Amazing job with their labs.  

Betsy Barron-  Kudos for heading up our spring induction for National Junior Honor Society.  We will induct a lot of students on Thursday April 15th.  Thanks to Betsy for doing two of these this year.  Well done.  

Brandy Brennan-  Kudos to Brandi for her work with our school musical Frozen.  She has been going solo on this thus far and always does an outstanding job.  Can't wait to see the show.  

Kudos to all teachers for their planning and implementation of our Spirit Assemblies this year.  We successfully recognized students, showed school spirit, and had fun five times.  Everyone should be commended for this amazing effort and implementation.  I thank you.  I know our students really enjoyed these.
