I agree that public-funded schools should be labeled in order to give taxpayers a glimpse into the product of their tax dollars, but it's not so simple. What if School A raises its ISTEP scores from 52% to 59%, and School B sees a drop from 82%-77%? Will School A be awarded a passing grade and School B a failing grade? Are we going to develop "IEP's" for schools so that the given grades reflect the culture of the schools' students? That's what teachers have to do for students who are to be specially considered.
Grades, given to students and/or schools, are subjective, and lots of times illogical. Successful schools are made of caring teachers, who view students as individuals with feelings and needs.
