Reading, Reading, and more Reading.

As we move into the home stretch of this school year with the most critical time approaching (ISTEP) we must double our efforts to continue to have students read, write and discuss. This has been our FOCUS this year. Students are reading more, as evidenced by Steven Boyer's and Regina Warren's stellar data on our Aims Web winter benchmark. Steven saw a reduction in the amount of students in his classes below benchmark. 62 to 49. Regina saw a high percentage of her reading intervention students increase their MAZE scores. They did this by FOCUSING on an abundant amount of reading, writing, and discussing in their classes. At the February 10th inservice day we will review our FOCUS this school year and learn how to increase the rigor in all classrooms through preparing higher level questions for our lessons. Now that students are reading more we need to increase our expectations through our questioning and requiring students to respond to text at an even higher level and doing it in abundance. Great Job and keep up the important work that you do.
