Teachers of last year 7th grade class,
WOW! I think you all did an outstanding job! I have never had such a well prepared students. You guys did an amazing job in teaching them critical thinking and writing skills. They discuss and problem solve in a way that I never seen before.
And thank you Tara Thornton for recognizing the hard work our 7th grade teachers did last year. This is evidence of how being FOCUSED on building upon Conley's Intellectual Standards can help in providing our students with the important skills of thinking critically, writing, problem solving, and discussing. These skills will serve these students well not only now as 8th graders but for years to come regardless of the content to be learned. With a continued emphasis on deep reading, writing, and discussing we can capitalize on the momentum that we created by being FOCUSED last year. We know it is not about the content but the skills that students leave us with that is most important. It must be what drives us. If you have not yet begun to emphasize an abundant amount of reading, writing, discussing the time is NOW and it is all our responsibilities to build these immensely important skills in all of our students. Thanks again to Tara for sharing her observation as it has allowed us to celebrate success!
