The First Time Every Time

Why do schools wait for students to fail and then offer remediation?

We seem to accept that in a typical classroom some students will excel and others will struggle. We literally wait to see which students fail before we try to "fix" them. Really? There is no reason why we can't design a system that meets learners where they are and provides both the type of instruction and the time necessary to enable them to "get it" the first time.
