It seemed like a long week but we are moving right along.  I want to thank everyone for your willingness to get up a little early on Thursday morning to get our staff picture taken together.  I also would like to thank everyone for their feedback on our Monday PD sessions.  The feedback that you provide drives our planning for the next sessions.  When we are planning for our PD it is always our goal to use your feedback to make the time together beneficial to our collective improvement and to impact student learning.  Your feedback and our Theory of Action serve to keep us focused on this goal each week.

This upcoming Monday we will spend time giving each other feedback from the observations that you completed and we will introduce how we will look at student work throughout the year to highlight the impact our work is having on student learning.  Remember that feedback is immensely important for both students and all of us as well.  Think about how impactful it could be if we asked students for feedback on the lessons that we created each day.  I know that the feedback that you provide for Shelly and I have been important to us as we work to make Monday PD meaningful to all of you.  Try asking your students for feedback as well as giving them some.  Feedback serves the purpose of letting students know where they are, where they are going, and what their next steps will be.

Come out and watch our football teams open their seasons against the Berries from Logansport on Saturday at 10:00.

Did you know that our Rockies football team is ranked #2 in the state by the media and #1 by the coaches in 4A?  Good luck the Coach Garrity's and all the Rockies as they open against Bremen Friday night.

Our Mass Media students are hosting Mass Media night on August 26th to share with the community what they are doing in class to promote the great things happening at Lincoln each day.  Make sure that ALL students are getting the chance to watch the announcements during first period.  I am sure that the students like to see themselves or their friends on screen.

Our National Junior Honor Society and Student Council groups are getting prepared for an exciting year of service to Lincoln and the community.  Both groups are going to play a vital role in our Fall Festival coming up in October.  They will be looking for staff members to assist in making the Fall Festival a huge success.  This will be a great way to connect with kids and help us raise money for student activities.

Although it is early, fall break will be here before we know it and new to our break will be an intersession for numerous students.  In the coming weeks we will be discussing possible candidates to attend the intersession.  Although we will not have our ISTEP scores back until December we will need to identify candidates based on classroom performance and 2014 test data.  Stay tuned for more direction and know that it is not to early to be thinking about who might need to attend.  We can have up to 4 sections on Math and 4 sections of Language Arts.  Postings for the teaching positions will be out soon.

Teacher goals should be uploaded to SFS by Friday September 11th.  Goals should in the SMART format and related to student learning.  The form for your goals is located in SFS as well.  Goals may be written together in by departments if so desired.

Mentors make sure you have shared a google document that summarizes your weekly meetings with your mentee.
