Speaking of responding to student academic and behavior needs we have now had at least one of each of our behavior and academic RTI collaborations on late start Mondays. The collaboration that is happening during these times have been good. As teams we can learn more about helping students be successful. We can learn from each other strategies that are having impact and maybe some that are not. We must continue to brainstorm ways to help students in both areas be more successful more of the time. We do this as teams because we are better when we are a team and put our minds together and not give up on having impact with our students. The process is not perfect but we will continue to grow and learn from our collaboration. This is how we ensure more success and a more collaborative and committed culture.
Successes in the last week!
College Go Week! Great job to all advisories of putting together amazing presentations. Although I was out on Friday morning I heard great things from students and adults about them. The gallery walk is a great strategy to engage students in learning. This is because students are teaching each other thus learning student to student, researching a topic and presenting to an audience, thus learning technology to student, and students are actively engaged in their learning. Great strategy and amazing work from all. It sure was awesome to see and hear what we can do together.
Fundraiser Update- We have had a great start to the fundraiser. Keep up the encouragement for students to sell. Our PTO is doing a great job of collecting and counting the money and hopefully we will start making money soon. We have over 100 boxes to send with students who need more and I would love to sell out so keep up the enthusiasm. The fundraiser ends on Oct. the 8th and thank you to all teachers for your flexibility with the adjustment in the schedule.
Music Concerts- Over the last week our bands, choir, and orchestras have all had concerts. They have been fantastic. It is great to see how far our students have come during these concerts. Great job Jodi, Brandi, and Lisa. Your work and success is evident.

These are traveling awards that will help us celebrate teachers being leaders, knocking it out of the park with instruction/curriculum, advocating for their students, and being creative in the classroom. On October 7th the September award recipients will recognize a new teacher in the area that they were recognized. This process will help us see the great things that others are doing everyday here at Lincoln. Be sure to visit classrooms to get ideas, share with each other the great things happening during collaboration, at lunch, or in passing to help us all identify the successes in each of these areas. I look forward to hearing about those success on the 7th.
Chinese Sister School visiting on Oct. 4th- This Thursday we will have a group of 20 students and 4 teachers from China visiting Lincoln during the morning. Our former Chinese teacher, Hangxin Yu, will be traveling with the group to Lincoln. I anticipate the group touring the school and visiting classrooms.
School Board Presentation- On Tuesday at the school board meeting several of our ELL students will presenting their learning in Mr. Ahlrich's ELL classes. They will share their survival projects and their goals for the upcoming year. This will be a great opportunity for these students and we are proud of their work and learning.
Spell Bowl Conference- Our 2018 Spell Bowl team travels to Warsaw for the conference tournament on Monday and we wish them luck. If you see these students on Monday wish them luck.
End of the Quarter- Oct. 12th ends the first quarter. Grades are due on Oct. 22nd at 8:00 a.m. Our parent teacher conferences will be on Tuesday Oct. 23rd.
