A Return from Break

I am so grateful for week long breaks.  The weather was fantastic and the break was pretty relaxing.  I hope that everyone was able to find some time to relax and enjoy the break.  Upon our return we will start our second quarter. As we start we continue our journey towards Amazing.  We will continue to build on the momentum that we have thus far.  We will continue to get to know our students and build those positive relationships with our students that we know that impact student achievement and student lives. We will continue to challenge our students to do more than they think is possible by asking them to think at higher levels and do more complex tasks in our classrooms through abundant amounts of reading, writing, discussing, and problem solving.  Our students success now and in their future depend on these efforts and we can be Amazing.  So upon your return think about those things that you are grateful for and continue to strive to be amazing everyday here at Lincoln.

Upcoming @ Lincoln

Student led conferences:  On Tuesday Oct. 22nd we will hold our fall student led conferences from 3:30 to 5:00 and 5:45 to 8:00.  PTO will provide us dinner from 5:00 to 5:45.  All students should have prepared a slide/keynote for the conferences indicating their progress in their classes thus far.  Students and parents will sit with teachers and take their parents through this progress.  This is also an opportunity for parents and teachers to connect and discuss the progress.  Conferences should be approximately 15 minutes in length.  Students will receive 1st quarter report cards during this time.  

Here are the locations for core teacher teams:  

         7th grade traditional teachers -  Cafeteria 

         8th grade traditional teachers- Room 101 

         7th grade PBL teachers- Red room 

         8th grade PBL teachers- Green room 

* All elective teachers will be conduct conferences from their rooms.  Please announce these locations to your students on Monday and Tuesday.  

Monday PD-  We will meet as a staff Monday in the Red room.  Teachers will present traveling awards then there will be PD on Meeting the needs of our ELL population.

Lincoln Picture Day:  This was scheduled for before break however we will reschedule for a Friday morning in the near future.  Stay tuned.  

Lincoln Commemoration Community Day- On Nov. 20th we will hold our first commemorative event commemorating the last year of the building.  This event will be from 9:00-11:00 on this day.  We will open the school during this time for the community to visit the building and see what school looks like in 2019.  We are inviting former teachers to come and share their memories of Lincoln.  these former teachers will share their memories of Lincoln from their former classrooms and our students will rotate through these classrooms to here their memories.  There will also be tours of the building, a reception for former teachers, and door prizes given away.  Our NJHS students with the help of Mrs. Barron will be refurbishing planks from the original Centennial gym floor for door prizes.   The commemorative committee will be sharing more information in the coming weeks.  

November Spirit Assembly Dates- The start of our spirit assembly schedule is coming up with our November assembly being on Nov. 15th.  Teams will continue to plan these assemblies in conjunction with administration.  Here is the schedule for the year.  

         Nov. 15th- 8th Grade PBL 

         Dec. 20th- 7th Grade PBL 

         Jan. 24th- 7th Grade Traditional 

         Feb. 21st- 8th Grade Traditional 

         March 19th- Student Council/NJHS 

These spirit assemblies will continue to be opportunities for us to celebrate student success through recognizing students while having fun.  It is important to have fun.  We will keep the separate grade format for the assemblies at the request of our student council president for this year.  Houses can be worked into the fun however we will need to keep the grade level competitions intact as well.  Students will sit in the bleachers by grade level as in the past.  

Monster Mash:  October 30th 6:00-7:30 in the Red gym 

October Checkin Week: October 21st- October 30.  Teachers should come prepared to discuss annual goals and upload the goals into SFS.  We will also be checking in with how our overall goals of connecting with students and increasing student thinking through reading, writing, discussing, and problem solving.  We will also discuss walk-through data.

News from to the Lincoln Family:

Sandy Cartwright's parents were in a traffic accident on Friday evening here in Plymouth.  Her mother is in the ICU with several injuries.  Please keep Sandy and her family in your thoughts. 

Officer Hite, lost her husband over the break to a heart attack.  Please also keep Bridgett in your thoughts as well.
