The calendar turns from October to November this week and continue our focused efforts to increase student achievement for all students. Last week during our PD we heard about some great successes several of our teachers have had being intentional in their planning for meeting the needs of our ELL learners. This intentional planning is what it takes to meet the learning needs of all of our students. This intentionality starts with knowing our students and where they are in their learning in relationship to our learning objectives. When we know where students are and intentionally plan for this student engagement increases and thus it is much more likely that student achievement increases. How do you know where your students are in their learning? How do you know if they are ready to learn? What do you do to activate prior knowledge or to prepare them for new learning? These are all questions that go into intetnionally planning to meet the needs of all of our students. So as we enter a new month and continue on our journey to be Amazing not just average, how are you intentionally planning with student needs in mind?

Megan Wiesenberg: Thanks for inviting others into your room to share the amazing things you are engaging your students in daily. Also special appreciate for working with our PBL 7th grade team in designing and creating a plan for the art work on the Blueberry that will be displayed out front of our new school to commemorate the old school. The design that I saw was Amazing.
Rachel Anders: Rachel has led a 3 year PBL project with students that will finally come to conclusion this year. This project will be highlighted at the November school board meeting along with our Commemorative Community Day. Thanks for your leadership with this Amazing project.
Betsy Barron: Betsy has continued to engage our NJHS students in many opportunities for service projects. Last week many of the NJHS help clean up original planks from the first Centennial Gym floor. These planks will be door prizes for our Community day on November 20th.
Susan LaFree: Susan continues to step out of her own comfort zone to find new and improved ways of engaging our students in math. Susan recently shared how she engaged several of her reluctant learners more through an activity that encouraged classroom movement and social interaction. These are two vary important strategies needed to engage middle school students. Our math department continues to grow in relation to help students conceptualize math.
Ryan Ahlrich: Thanks for your planning of an engaging and impactful PD session last Monday. Ryan reminded all of us that it all starts with connecting and knowing our students. It is evident that he knows about his students academically and personally. This is where our success starts. When students know that we care about them as people and take the time to get to know them they will engage and do amazing work. I loved that he asked teachers to share positives about our ELL students and others to share their successes. We look forward to the highlighting of many more successful strategies with our ELL students.
Team LJH: For your commitment and dedication to our students and their continued progress. Thanks for a very successful student led conference evening. It was a long day but attendance from parents was pretty good and I know their were some very important conversations happening throughout the evening to help our students be even more successful.
