eLearning check in

Staff-  We have now completed day two of our elearning.  I predict that after completing these three days of elearning and spring break we have not seen the last of our elearning days.  So we all need to continue to grow and provide the best posibble elearning that we can for our students.  Here are a couple of things to think about.

• Students that have not finished any of their assignments, be sure to check in with these students.  Ask them how you can help them.  Tell them you will continue to check on them.  Maybe even call them or their parents to see what's up.  
• Reaching out to our aides to help you with this task.  They are all on call and can help you with reaching out to students.  This especially works for those aides that work in classrooms.  If you need help with an ELL student, Fabian and/or Jesus can help as well.  
• Be sure to work with our interventionists and vise versa to make sure our students are getting the accommodations needed for their assignments.  
• If accommodations call for text to be read aloud Facetime would be great for this or even doing a screen recording on your iPad and reading the text to these students.  
• Try out Google Meet, have students download the app from the App portal and then have class through Google Meet, connect with students, give students feedback, or check in on their work and how they are doing.  Check out the video below for a little tutorial on how to use the app.  

• Use the screen recorder on your iPad to show students how to do a math problem or read something to students. You can always check out youtube for tutorials on how to use the screen recorder on the iPad if you forget or need to brush up, that is what I did. 
• Don't forget the social and emotional side of learning as well.  Ask students to have conversations with others, ask them how they are doing,  maybe an assignment can be for them to discuss a text based question with a group of classmates using Google meet then write a summary of the discussion.  Maybe the assignment is just to hang out with the class online, a virtual community circle.  
• Remember that even though we have moved our instruction online we can still engage for energy and create a positive classroom environment.   

We will need to continue to grow our capacity with regards to elearning as I imagine we will have lots of these days ahead.  Don't be scared to try out something new and run with it.  Model that growth mindset.  

Thanks to all teachers for getting grades complete.  Be sure to reflect on your grades for 3rd quarter.  Ask yourself:

        Did students improve throughout the quarter?  

        How did the students that you targeted for your goal do?  

        What strategies worked for your target group?  What strategies didn't work
        so well?

        How many of your students failed the quarter?  How many of those students
        did you call and involve the parents in your work with those students?  

       What will you do to improve your instruction or practices so that less
       students fail in the future?
