Show Me the Money

Replace the money with evidence.  Are students showing you the evidence?  Are they showing you evidence of their learning?  Making learning visible is important so that you know where students are in their learning of your lesson objectives.  The objectives are what students should know and be able to do and thus we need students to Show us the Evidence of their learning.  How we do this during our lessons can vary but the importance can not be understated.  When we ask for students to show us the evidence and make their learning visible not only do we better know our impact but students also know where they are in their own learning.  They know what the objective is, they know where they stand in relation to the objective, and if we ask maybe they know what their next steps could or should be to master the objective.  As teachers, by making students learning visible we know students' misconceptions therefore we can make adjustments in our lesson and in real time.  Asking the right questions and linking those questions to what we want students to know and do is key as well.  These carefully planned checks for understanding can reveal students thinking and help us SEE THE EVIDENCE of student learning.

Thanks to everyone for their flexibility when we have multiple staff out.  Thanks to Sandy Cartwright for her work in finding coverage for everyone.  I know sometimes it is difficult when ISS is closed or when teachers cover for others so please know that your flexibility and positivity is appreciated.  We are a TEAM.

Upcoming @ Lincoln:

Our first Spirit Assembly is Friday.  This is the first of our Spirit Assemblies that we will have monthly between now and March.  Remember that the purpose of these Spirit Assemblies are to show our school spirit, recognize students, and have fun.  Yes fun is important for us all.  We are all a part of creating a great experience for our students.  We ask that teachers all help with appropriate behavior during the assemblies.  Craig and I will be very intentional with our expectations for students and please help by reviewing these with students prior to the assembly.  We will communicate these via announcements and at the assembly on Friday.



PTO Meeting-  Our November PTO meeting is Monday at 6:00 in the red room.  All teachers are welcome to attend.

Jeans Days-  If you like to wear jeans you might be in for a lot of jeans days.  Donate to Shop with a Cop and get to wear jeans.  A $20.00 donation allows you to wear jeans throughout December.  There is yet another opportunity as well.  PHS senior CeCe Robinson, as a student advisory council member for the IHSAA,  has a goal to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics and earn our High School the Champions Together Unified School Banner.  Teachers can participate in a corporation wide jeans week November 26th-30th to support her efforts by donating $10.00.  Shop with the Cop donations can be given to Julie Stauffer.  The Special Olympics donations can be given to Sandy Cartwright.  

Winter NWEA Dates Set:  We will assess students on December 11th Reading, December 13th Math, and December 18th Language.  Student will test in their advisory testing locations.  Mark you Calendars.

Progress Reports- 2nd quarter progress reports go home Tuesday November 20th.  

Veterans Day Observance- We will observe Veteran's Day on Monday with our words of wisdom and a special announcement followed by our announcements during advisory.  Please make sure all students are watching the announcements.  Thanks.  

Christmas Staff Dinner-  The date is set for Friday December 7th at the Brass Rail.  For more information please see Darlene or Sandy.  

Monthly check in week- November 26th-30th-  Scheduled Teachers will receive calendar invites for their schedule times.
