Impact of Timing

Did you know: 
-Pattern of the Day affects student performance
-Positive mood rises in the morning and dips in the afternoon 
-Student test performance suffers in the afternoon 
-For every hour later in the day, scores decrease
-Cognitive Abilities do not remain static over the course of the day
-Mornings are better for analytical work 

What does all this mean for teachers and students?  Here are some ways that we can respond especially in the middle and end of the day.  
-Schedule breaks - some breaks beat nothing
-Get kids moving- Moving beats stationary 
-Require students to talk- Social beat solo
-Outside beats inside- take kids out when possible 
-Use music have students sing or do choral checks for understanding

Accolades @ Lincoln 

Thanks to all teachers who brought in Super Bowl snacks.  We had quite the spread and our carry ins always create an opportunity for us to come together and share good food and spend time together.  Thanks for bringing in snacks. 

Music Teachers-  Each of our teachers have been working hard to prepare our students for upcoming solo and ensemble competitions.  Great job Brandi as we had lots of students receive gold last weekend. 

Upcoming: 

Monday PD:  Tomorrow - Traveling awards those that were presented with awards last month please be prepared to present your award.  We will then spend some time around classroom instruction.

Feb. 24th- Behavior RTI Collaboration
March 2nd- Academic RTI Collaboration

WIDA Testing-  Testing will start tomorrow and lasts the next 8 days.  Talk to your ELL students, encourage them, tell them you are interested in their results, give them confidence.  We are measured as a school on how much growth our ELL students make year to year, and it is on all of us to help them grow each day. 

Art Extravaganza - Wednesday evening.  Come out and check out our students work in the performing and visual arts. 

Tuesday-  Jake and I will be out Tuesday for some PD and other meetings.  We welcome Michele Zentz from Riverside as she is obtaining her admin license.  She has been spending time here at Lincoln to gain experience.  She currently teaches Math at Riverside and will be in for us on Tuesday morning.
